Accepting these terms

These terms cover your use of the D&J Hawthorne Insulation Services website and any work you hire us to do. By using this site, asking for an estimate or booking a job, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site or book work with us.

When we say "we", "us" or "our", we mean D&J Hawthorne Insulation Services. When we say "you", we mean the person using the site or hiring us. If you're hiring us for a property you don't own, you're telling us you have the owner's permission for the work.

What we do

We're an insulation contractor based in Hawthorne, CA. We insulate attics, walls, crawl spaces and similar areas, remove old insulation, seal air leaks and install vapor barriers for homes and businesses in Hawthorne and the cities around it. You can read more about our crew on the About page and see our services from the home page.

What we describe on this site is general information about the trade and our services. It isn't a promise about your house. What we'll actually do for you is whatever is written on your estimate or work agreement.

Estimates and pricing

We give free in-person estimates, and you're under no obligation to book. Your estimate lists the work, the materials and the price, and it's based on what we can see and reach during the visit.

Some conditions only show up once the job is open, like soaked or contaminated old insulation, pest damage, hidden wiring or framing problems. If we find something that changes the scope or the price, we'll stop and explain it before we do any extra work. We won't bill you for added work you haven't approved.

An estimate is good for the period written on it. After that, material costs may have changed, so we may need to update the price before we schedule.

Scheduling and cancellation

We set your job date together once you accept the estimate. Weather, material delays, access problems or a crew issue can push a date, and if that happens we'll tell you as soon as we know and set a new one.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, call us at (424) 307-8033 or reach us through the Contact page as early as you can. If we've already ordered special materials or started work, your estimate or agreement says what charges apply.

On the job day, you agree to give our crew safe access to the work areas, including the attic hatch, crawl space and any rooms we need to pass through. If you have pets, please keep them away from the work area.

Your safety during and after the job

Some insulation jobs, especially spray foam, require you and your household to stay out of the house or certain rooms for a set time. We'll tell you before the job how long you need to be out and when it's safe to come back. You agree to follow those instructions, because coming back early can be a health risk we can't control once we've left.

Payment

Payment terms, including any deposit and when the balance is due, are written on your estimate or invoice. Unless your paperwork says otherwise, the balance is due when the work is finished.

If a payment is late, we may pause any remaining work until it's settled. You're responsible for reasonable costs we have to pay to collect an unpaid balance, to the extent California law allows.

Warranties and disclaimers

Any warranty on our labor is the one written on your estimate, agreement or invoice. Materials carry the manufacturer's own warranty, and that warranty depends on the manufacturer's terms, not ours.

We don't promise a specific drop in your power bill or a specific indoor temperature, because those depend on things outside our work, like your windows, ducts, equipment, habits and the weather.

Our warranty doesn't cover damage caused by later work by others, roof or plumbing leaks, pests, misuse or changes made to the insulated areas after we finish.

This website is provided as is. We try to keep it accurate and current, but we don't guarantee that every page is error free or always available.

Limits on our liability

To the extent California law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost income, lost use of your home or higher energy costs, arising from our work or from using this site.

Our total liability for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as for our own gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Settling a disagreement

If you're unhappy with our work or a bill, tell us first. Call (424) 307-8033 or use the Contact page, and we'll come out and look at it. Most problems get sorted out that way.

If we can't settle it together, either of us may bring the matter in small claims court or in the state courts serving Los Angeles County, California, whichever fits the claim.

Governing law

These terms and any work we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, and the current version is always the one posted on this page. Changes apply to site use and new jobs after we post them. A job you've already booked stays under the terms in place when you accepted the estimate.
