How I ended up in insulation
I spent years doing heating and air work before I switched to insulation and started D&J Hawthorne Insulation Services here in Hawthorne in 2023. All those hours in hot attics showed me what thin insulation and leaky ceilings cost people, in hot rooms upstairs and a power bill that keeps creeping up, so I learned the insulation trade working beside an experienced installer before I took on jobs of my own.
Most of our calls come from homeowners with a hot bedroom or a tired old attic, plus some owners of commercial buildings. What I care about most is that the job fits the house, because insulation laid over a roof leak or bad wiring just hides the problem, and I'd rather tell you about it than sell you more material. You can see everything we do on our home page, and if you're wondering about any of it, no question is too small.
What you can count on when we work on your house
We fix what's underneath first
Before we add anything, we look for soaked or dirty old insulation, open gaps around can lights, pipes and the attic hatch, and eave vents that are buried, because new material over those problems just keeps them. If there's a roof leak or wiring that needs an electrician, you'll hear about it before we price the job.
The owner comes out and explains it
I come out myself to look at your attic or crawl space, and you get the price and the plan in writing. I'll walk you through what I found in plain words for as long as you have questions, so you know exactly what you're paying for.
Your vents and gas appliances get a look too
My years in heating and air mean I check your ductwork, vents and gas appliances while I'm up there, not just the insulation. When something needs a closer look from someone else, I'll tell you straight.
A crew I trained, and work I check
A small crew I trained does the install, and I check the work myself before we call it done. We're fully licensed and insured, and when a job needs a permit, we pull it and set up the inspections with the city or county office that handles your address.
